THE WHITSUNDAY Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WCCI) is still busy rallying opinions and suggestions for the people’s vision of the Whitsundays, as part of its Vision for the Whitsundays project. The Chamber is undertaking work to articulate an economic future for the Whitsundays that is informed by the region’s trades, small business, commerce, and industry. The aim is to build a comprehensive economic vision that aligns with the region’s unique strengths, challenges, and aspirations. So far, more than 100 people have attended focus groups to voice their opinions, thoughts and hopes for the region they live in. “Thank you to the 110 people who participated in our series of focus groups for our Vision for the Whitsundays project,” Chamber liaison Julia Evans said. “The conversations were lively, informative and inspirational, and have all helped shape an economic vision for the Whitsundays.” One of the focus groups was held with student leaders from Proserpine State High School for a young person’s view of the future of the region. There is still time to have your say by making a formal submission to the project, or completing a short, anonymous online survey. Both close on Friday, December 1, 2023. The Whitsunday Chamber of Commerce and Industry will share preliminary findings with the public in December, with the full report to be launched in May 2024.
