THE WHITSUNDAYS Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WCCI) acknowledges the outcome of the 2025 Federal Election and congratulates Andrew Willcox on his re-election as Member for Dawson.
The Chamber remains committed to working constructively with all levels of government to advance the interests of the region’s business community.
Key advocacy priorities include infrastructure investment, workforce development, housing affordability, and the reduction of red tape to enable local businesses to grow and thrive.
With major economic opportunities on the horizon, now is the time for meaningful action.
We look forward to partnering with the incoming government to deliver practical outcomes for Whitsunday businesses.
Coinciding with the election outcome is Queensland Small Business Month (QSBM).
QSBM is a time to recognise the enormous contribution of small and family enterprises across the state.
Queensland’s 495,000 small businesses employ more than one million people and contribute more than $131 billion to the economy.
In the Whitsundays, 4,200 businesses support a workforce of more than 20,000 people and generate a Gross Regional Product of $4.4 billion.
With the region poised for major investment and economic expansion, small businesses remain central to its future prosperity.
The Chamber acknowledges the dedication and impact of local entrepreneurs – from sole traders and start-ups to family owned and small enterprises – and encourages the community to show their support throughout May and beyond.
Buying local, referring customers, engaging on social media, and leaving positive reviews are all simple yet powerful ways to strengthen our regional economy.
