Urban Water Plans
All levels of government were involved in discussion of water provision. Construction of preliminary works for the $32 million Proserpine Dam would begin in 1986. The dam was expected to be capable of holding water by late 1986.
Proserpine TAFE Axed
Queensland Authorities have axed Proserpine TAFE, wiping out 10 years of hard work by local co-ordinators with a stroke of the pen. In 1975, Jan Maltby began to develop the successful Proserpine TAFE extension program. Since then, well over 1,000 students had benefited from it.
In 1985, 22 classes had been organised. Mrs. Maltby resigned with regret, tired with coping with the prevailing city based attitude.
Cricketers Find a Home
Land adjacent to the Junior Sporting Complex is available and, if a clubhouse can be built, this will provide an unprecedented boost to Proserpine cricket.

World Acclaimed Pianist in Proserpine
Famous classical pianist Roger Woodward gave a two-and-a-half-hour recital at the Cultural Hall, on Wednesday, and afterwards spent time talking freely with members of the audience of 200 people.

Obituary
Frederick Peter Neilson, aged 71, died after a long illness. He had been a pioneer Yalbaroo farmer who helped build the first school at Yalbaroo.
Dog Obedience
Whitsunday Dog Obedience Club had been recently formed. All interested dog owners were invited to join at the Showgrounds, on Tuesday evening.
