Bowen Mayoral Candidates Forum

Must read

BOWEN residents will have their chance to quiz the Mayoral Candidates at a forum, on Wednesday, August 3, 2022.

An opportunity has been offered to all six candidates contesting the forthcoming Mayoral election, to become the Mayor of Whitsunday Regional Council, to express their vision and hope for the region.

Invitations have been extended to – and accepted by – all candidates to address the forum, which will start at 5.30pm and conclude at 8pm.

The first candidate will address the meeting, organised by the Bowen Chamber of Commerce, at 5.45pm.

The Chamber committee has conducted a ballot prior to the meeting to determine the speaking order of the candidates.

Candidates will be given seven minutes to address the meeting including an introduction about themselves, their life experiences, reason for standing and vision for the Whitsunday Regional Council area.

Each candidate will then answer three questions from the audience. Each question must be completed in one minute and the candidate only has two minutes to reply.

An audience member can only ask one question to each of the candidates.

“This is an excellent opportunity to hear and meet each of the candidates prior to the election date of Saturday, August 13, 2022,” Bowen Chamber of Commerce chairman Bruce Hedditch said.

The forum will be held at the Larrikin Hotel, 69 Herbert Street, Bowen (on the corner, opposite the Council Chambers).
