Proserpine Artists Display in Sydney

Mill Retirees
This year Glen Cook, Frank Goodfellow, Wilf [Rusty]Norman, Brian Cooke, Bill Chapman and Roy Townsend were retiring and were farewelled at the Mill Social Club. They have a combined total of 176 years’ service for the industry.
Archery
The FITA Shoot, held on Sunday by the Whitsunday Archery Club, was won by Michael Jameljanenko with 869, followed by Andy Dinnie on 863 and Rick Yuskan 711.
Golf
In the Dowden’s Trophy, at the Proserpine Golf Club, Steve Laing hit the first hole in one for over two years when he aced the thirteen hole. Harry Milne and Stefan Kovacik won the trophy.
Whitsunday Village Fun Race
A tradition was born nine years ago, leading to the establishment of the Fun Race. Once and for all the aim was to finally settle whose vessel was the fastest. Both skippers complained about the tactics used by the other, so the race had to be run again…and again. These were the humble beginnings of The Great Whitsunday Village Fun Race.

Faust’s Semi Marathon
This annual race to commemorate the opening of the Fausts’ brothers store, in Main Street, Proserpine, was won by Charlie Martel, of the Mackay Roadrunners. Junior winners were Les Dolan and Carol Porter.
