A DEDICATED team of doctors and nurses has visited Bowen to ensure the delivery of specialised services to those in regional areas, who might otherwise miss out.
True Relationships & Reproductive Health provides vital care to regional Queensland and recently met with Deputy Mayor Michelle Wright, at Le Sorelle Coffee House, Bowen, to discuss the ongoing health needs of the community.
The True Outreach team provides expert sexual and reproductive healthcare services.
Their mission is to support people in remote, rural and regional areas across Queensland, delivering expert clinical services, education and counselling.
During the recent visit, earlier this month, the True team delivered comprehensive care to many Bowen locals over a two-day period.
The team from True’s metro and regional clinics spend significant time throughout the year travelling to under-served areas.
“We visit Bowen two to three times a year and offer specialised services to those in the area who may not have specialised support otherwise,” a spokeswoman said.
“It’s important for us to help as many Queenslanders as possible.”
The goal is to ensure all Queensland residents have access to essential sexual and reproductive health services, regardless of their location.
Services include:
• Contraception advice
• Pregnancy planning
• Menopause advice
• Sexual health screening
• Cervical screening
• Breast examinations
“Visiting rural and remote areas is a truly rewarding part of my role,” True nurse Angela Johnson said.
“It’s an honour to provide continuous and specialised care to patients who may not otherwise have access to these services.”
By reaching out to communities such as Bowen, True Relationships & Reproductive Health reaffirms its commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of all Queenslanders, no matter where they live.
For more than fifty years, True Health (formerly Family Planning Queensland) has worked across Queensland to protect reproductive rights and advance sexual healthcare in every region, and in every community.
