The Chats and Cosmic Psychos Killer Show

Must read

AUSSIE punk rock bands The Chats and Cosmic Psychos are bringing their ‘Up North Tour’ to Airlie Beach with a killer show planned for Magnums Hotel on Saturday, August 5.

The Chats are an Australian punk rock band that formed in 2016 in the Sunshine Coast. They describe their sound as ‘shed rock’.

The band is composed of guitarist Josh Hardy, drummer Matt Boggis, and bassist and vocalist Eamon Sandwith.

Known for their songs about Australian culture, they initially went viral for their song ‘Smoko’ and its accompanying music video in 2017.

To date they have released two EPs, The Chats and Get This in Ya, and two studio albums High Risk Behaviour and most recently, Get F@cked.

Joining them is Cosmic Psychos, an Australian punk rock band which formed in 1982. Founding members included Ross Knight on bass guitar and vocals, Robbie Addington on guitar and vocals, and Steve Morrow on vocals. Australian rock music historian, Ian McFarlane, described their music as “arty kind of punk noise, somewhere between The Birthday Party and a more narcotic sounding Ramones”.

They issued their debut album, Down on the Farm, in December 1985. Several albums have followed and were backed by national tours and international tours to Europe and North America.

40 years later, the band is still hard at work and is now composed of Ross Knight on lead vocals, bass guitar, Dean Muller on the drums, and John McKeering on the guitar.

This up north tour will feature their most recent album, Mountain of Piss, which was released in 2021.

Tickets can be purchased at www.tickets.oztix.com.au. Doors open at 8pm.
