MEMBERS of the Whitsunday Housing Committee are gearing up for another fundraising effort to go towards the Tiny Homes Project.
The project aims to establish tiny homes for homeless single women over 55-years-old, in the Whitsundays.
Ten women have volunteered to help with the raising of cash sponsorships and will be visiting businesses around the Whitsundays in the coming weeks, to gather financial support for the project.
The 10 women who have volunteered for the door knocking project come from a variety of industries around the region, including Nicole Polley, from Polleys Real Estate, and Dihann Logan, from Airlie Allied Health.
Also keep an eye out for Fiona Donnellan, Sandy Clark, Anita Edgar, Joy Dunand, Su Willmott, Sharon Ashman, Kellie Walker, and Shirley Lethlean around town.
The fundraising effort leads into Tiny Homes’ next big event, ‘Let’s do Latin,’ at the Whitsunday Sailing Club, who is the major event sponsor.
All sponsorships will be acknowledged at the ‘Let’s do Latin’ event, on July 8, which runs from 5pm to 10pm, and guests are invited to dress in the theme.
There will also be an auction and raffle on the night, and donations of prizes are welcomed by Whitsunday Housing Co Ltd.
Volunteer fundraising coordinator for Whitsunday Housing Co Ltd Sandy Clark is hoping to head into the July event having raised $15,000 in sponsorships through the door knocking efforts.
“We are aiming, in the first instance, to raise $15,000 plus from the Whitsundays community by July 8, and all of the cash donors will be announced at our big fundraiser, which is to be held on the lawns, near the Bali Hut, at the Whitsunday Sailing Club – our major sponsor for the event,” she said.
“All of the volunteers will receive a sponsorship kit to hand out to potential likeminded corporations and friends, over the next few months, leading up to the event.”
There are three levels of sponsorship – Bronze, silver and Gold – with benefits for each level.
Tickets for ‘Let’s do Latin’ are now on sale through Airlie Events at: https://bit.ly/Lets-Do-Latin.
