LOCAL woman Arisa George has recently purchased Harry’s Corner Café, on the main street of Airlie Beach, located near the Airlie Beach lagoon.

The café was purchased on Thursday, February 2, by Ms George, who has lived in the area for 10 years.

Ms George’s sister Jinda and Jinda’s husband Greg Hosking are joining her on their new business journey.

The family purchased the café from its original owner, Harry Schneider, 24 years after he first opened it.

Arisa and Jinda worked at Harry’s café as chefs and waitresses for many years, prior to purchasing it.

As well as breakfast foods in the morning, the sisters plan to open the café for lunch and dinner, serving Thai cuisine.

Jinda’s husband Greg Hosking said the team was well versed in all things food.

“Working with them is Wipa Ayamueang, who has been cooking Thai food forever,” Mr Hosking said.

“So, between the three of them, they’ve got it covered.

“When you’re Thai, food is your whole life; every afternoon they go home and make pulled pork salad and they’re there with a mortar and pestle mixing it all up and getting everything exactly right.

“They make some amazing food, they really do.”

Mr Hosking said the new team behind Harry’s Café had good experience with Australian food, as well as Thai food, and they know Australian tastes well.

Thai dinners will be available at Harry’s Café going forward, from Thursday through until Sunday.

And yes, they are keeping the name!
