THE YEAR is getting busier and busier, as it goes on!
January is always quiet, with people off work, away on holiday, spending time with family etc.
Then schools go back, at the end of January, and February is all about settling back into the school/work routine (punctuated only by Valentine’s Day).
But then along comes March, and things seem to explode!
There is just so much happening around the region.
In the past week alone, we have had all the International Women’s Day (IWD) events – see page 4 for the story about the Collinsville IWD Fun Run and page 13 for photos from the Bowen IWD event.
And the first in the series of ‘Get Active’ Family Fun Days took place, on Saturday, in Collinsville – see story page 3, plus photos on page 19.
And the Dittmann Bull Pit Country Fest, on March 10 and 11, was a huge success – see story on pages 1 and 3.
Coming up
We have three local tourism operators entered in the Australian Tourism Awards, this Friday (March 17).
We wish them all the luck in the world and we will bring you the results and pics in next week’s newspaper.
We have the community cut-out party, at the Proserpine Showgrounds, this Saturday March 18, 2023 – see story page 21 – and it’s Saint Patrick’s Day, this Friday, March 17, with lots of fun events happening all over the Whitsundays.
Join the ‘Mommas and Poppas’ for a night of Irish song and dance at the Buffalo Hall, Proserpine, on Friday.
They will be joined by the Proserpine Citizens Band and there will also be a light supper. Tickets are just $15 and the show begins at 7pm.
Shave for a cure
The World’s Greatest Shave week is running from March 15 to March 19, 2023, with thousands of Australians participating to raise money for the Leukaemia Foundation – see story page 4.
Are you or someone you know doing something this year?
If so, please email us at news@whitsundaynews.net.au so we can run your stories and photos in next week’s paper.
As always, thanks for reading this newspaper.
