Buy an artwork, help fight high-rise

Must read

SAVE Our Foreshore is hosting a cheese and wine evening and auction, showing off a collection of art and craft works, donated by Whitsunday artists.

The art exhibition and auction will take place on Friday, March 31, at 3 Little Birds Espresso and Creative Hub, Shute Harbour Road, Airlie Beach.

The evening events will begin at 5.30pm and conclude at 7.30pm.

All funds raised will go towards Save Our Foreshore’s legal battle against the proposed Port of Airlie high-rise development.

“Save Our Foreshore would like to thank all those wonderfully talented artists, craftspeople and individuals, who have generously donated works and their time for our auction,” a SOF spokesperson said.

“Your support is vital for an event such as this. Thanks to you all.”

Last month, 3 Little Birds Espresso and Creative Hub hosted a week-long art exhibition preview of artworks that were donated to raise funds for the Save Our Foreshore (SOF) fight against the Airlie Beach high-rise.

A number of local artists donated artworks for the exhibition, including Richard Timperley who created a historic painting of Boathaven Bay, in the 1900s.

Other generous artists include Carol Bell, Jennifer Beaumont, Bonney Bombach, Adriaan Vanderlugt, Denise Vanderlugt, Carla Whelan and Butterfly Effect Nursery.
