Must read

FLYING Double Front Kick, a dynamic trio hailing from Airlie Beach, are set to release their first EP out of a series of four, due to be released in 2023.

Flying Double Front Kick is comprised of Kaeden McCarthy on guitar and lead vocals, Nick Di Gregorio on bass and vocals, and Simon Briley on drums and vocals.

The band has played gigs all over town including Airlie Beach Music Festival, Hamilton Island Race Week and in the main room, at Magnums Hotel.

They have also had the chance to play alongside acts such as The Grogan’s, Death by Carrot and Airlie Beach favourites, The Stone Apes.

As well as playing multiple times a week in Airlie’s famous night scene, Flying Double Front Kick also record and release original music that has seen them gain a loyal following in Airlie Beach and beyond, completing originals state tours in 2022, with more booked for 2023.

Frontman Kaeden McCarthy says the band is keen to keep pushing forward into the Aussie music industry.

“The band is comprised of three local musicians, each having cut our teeth through our own respective projects in individual band settings,” he said.

“Now together and keen to make the push into the unforgiving, unpredictable, and unpromising music industry of Australia.

“We are approaching this endeavour with an earned confidence, having matured in the entertainment business, that will assist in navigating some of the pitfalls and roadblocks common to aspiring bands.”

Their upcoming EP is volume one of a series of four that will be released this year, each written and recorded independently in the band’s living rooms and bedrooms.

“The ability to record a quality product at home with today’s technology and Nick’s expertise has allowed leeway to use the money saved in the process to support tours, videos and other generally pricey avenues. to showcase our music,” Mr McCarthy said.

Release dates for the EP and launch night will be posted on Flying Double Front Kick’s social media platforms soon.

Catch their next original sets when they play support for Kingswood, at Magnums Hotel, on April 27, and Lazy Ghost, at the Reef Gateway Hotel, on May 22.
