A BIG week for the economy with the Federal Budget being handed down on Tuesday night – details will no doubt be debated over the next few weeks, but it should be a budget to bring some cost-of-living relief without inflation.
The concern in the business community is that the relief will be funded by small business.
Onto local activity, the chamber invites you to Join us for the Whitsundays’ economic future event during Queensland Small Business Month.
One of the goals of the chamber, this year, is to lead work on articulating a business and industry vision for the Whitsunday region.
This special event will be held on Tuesday, May 16, from 6pm at Mantra Club Croc, Cannonvale, to discuss the future economic indicators for the region.
We’ll hear from federal, state, and regional leaders including Whitsunday Regional Council Mayor Julie Hall, Amanda Camm MP, Queensland Member for Whitsundays, and Andrew Willcox MP, Federal Member for Dawson.
They will explore the current drivers of change and how they might influence our region, in the next 25 to 40 years.
The Whitsundays region is home to nearly 4,000 small businesses that play a vital role in our local economy including providing employment for the community.
The chamber also recognises and values the vital contribution tourism and hospitality, mining, construction, and agriculture sectors make to our regional economy and sustaining our way of life.
Let’s make sure there is a clear vision and sustainable plan for growth into the future.
