THE WHITSUNDAYS Arts Festival and Whitsunday Creatives are thrilled to announce the return of the handmade markets, which will take place as a stand-alone event on the Airlie Foreshore, on Sunday, September 24, 2023.
The event boasts one of Australia’s most stunning market settings, offering views of the islands and a perfect day out for visitors and locals.
The handmade markets showcase the extraordinary talent of local artists, designers and makers, promising a truly unique shopping experience.
Visitors can peruse a diverse array of handmade treasures, including homewares, artwork, unique gifts, and food, while connecting with the region’s most gifted creatives and discovering their one-of-a-kind creations.
But it’s not just about shopping!
Visitors are encouraged to engage in hands-on workshops and immerse themselves in demonstrations led by skilled artisans.
Ugo Kennedy, Queensland’s hat-making maestro, will unveil the secrets behind his timeless craft, utilising steam irons and wooden moulds.
For those seeking a creative outlet, Tammi and Jinni will lead a Thai batik workshop, allowing participants to paint with dyes on prepared wax designs.
And for the little ones (and the young at heart) Emily’s face painting stall will bring imagination to life, one face at a time!
Mark your calendars for Sunday, September 24, 2023, and prepare for a day of artistic inspiration and community spirit, while supporting local makers and artists.
