AN UPGRADED Airlie Beach post office opened its doors, on Monday, November 20, 2023, following months of construction and fitout
It has moved to a bigger and better location just 30 metres away, within the Jubilee Central shopping centre, at Jubilee Pocket.
The new location has doubled the floor size of the current post office, and occupies a new building developed over the past year by local owner and licensee Garth Sandilands.
Mr Sandilands said the new site has more parking, a fresh, modern fitout and better visibility for locals and visitors passing by.
A full range of postal services will continue to be available.
“This is an extremely exciting time for the Airlie Beach Post Office,” Mr Sandilands said.
“There’s been a high level of interest and anticipation…I am excited to welcome customers through the door.”
Mr Sandilands said it had been a journey over the past few months to complete the interior finishes and fit-out.
“I think the end result is worth it, and a fitting upgrade for our growing community,” he said.
“The post office is now entering its busiest time of the year and it is very timely for us to open up at the new location ready for the pre-Christmas rush.”
Post office boxes will be relocated from their current location, next to the supermarket, to the new site, in the next few months.
Updates will be provided to post office box customers as soon as a transition date is confirmed.
All over-the-counter services, including parcel pick up, Bank@Post and document and identity services will continue to be available at the new Airlie Beach post office.
Longtime Whitsunday residents will remember the Airlie Beach post office being located in the Airlie Beach main street, before it moved to Jubilee Pocket.
