Jeannie Little, well-known for her appearances on Channel 9’s Mike Walsh Show , caused a sensation when she flew into Proserpine Airport, later appearing as a guest at a Fashion Parade held at Wanderer’s Paradise, last Friday.
Whitsunday Flights
There are now ten Ansett Boeing 737 flights per week into Whitsunday, to Hamilton Island and Proserpine Airports.
Proserpine Rotary Handover
Last Tuesday, past District Governor of Rotary Mitch Clarke was chairman at Proserpine Rotary’s handover. Retiring president Col McCall invested his successor Danny Spencer. Rotarian Tom Carey received the Paul Harris Fellowship from District Governor Noel Pilcher of Bowen.
Cool Palms Change
Ian and Fay Laurie, from Mandalay Cool Palms Youth Hostel, are to manage Cool Waters Youth and Conference Centre, in Yeppoon. Fred and Cheryl Watts of Emu Park are taking over their position.
Whitsunday Lions
Whitsunday Lions changeover dinner was held at Wildlife Restaurant, last Saturday night. Outgoing president Ross Smith handed over to Keith Railton-Stewart.
New Premises
Raydor Agencies opened new premises in Anzac Road, last Saturday morning. This is owned by Ian and Peta Leet – managed by Richard McArtney. This company sells ‘Just Juice’ and Deeko products.
Sports fishing
Proserpine-Whitsunday sports fishing club’s third annual Presentation Night was held at Wing Dragon restaurant, in Proserpine. President Mark O’Donnell (who won highest scoring fish of the year) presented trophies. A special award was presented to Lloyd Ogilvie for his contribution to the club. Trophy for most competent angler went to Chris Gilmore, and best line twister to Jim Hinschen.
Brahmans Win
Proserpine Brahmans retained their unbeaten record in the XXXX Whitsunday competition, last Sunday, with a 24/4 win over a ‘scratch’ Brothers side, at Merinda. The Under 18 Proserpine team won by 22 to 10.
