TOWARDS the end of last week, 11 Cannons and two Coaches travelled to Brisbane to compete at the 2024 Queensland Swimming Championships.
The championships started on Saturday with club and regional relays.
Excitingly, the Cannonvale Cannons were able to nominate club relay teams, which gave an opportunity for Alex Trefz and Harris Delac to swim at the championships.
Tiana Bell, Tyler Bennett, Ella Bounden, Tora Delac, Isaac Pisaniello, Isabella Pisaniello and Zach Trefz competed in three club relays, and Harris Delac, Jacob Bell and Alex Trefz competed in one relay.
Coaches Mark Erickson and Ken Crittenden were very impressed with the Cannons, with their warm-up, performance and positive attitude.
Nelson Malady will join the team during the week to compete in his Backstroke event.
Tora Delac, Ella Bounden, Tiana Bell, Isabella Pisaniello (reserve), Isaac Pisaniello, Zach Trefz, Tyler Bennett and Jacob Bell were all selected for the regional relay teams, representing SNQ (North Queensland).
They also swam well and represented SNQ with pride.
A big thank you to Mark Erickson for coaching the male relay teams and to Theresa Manning for managing the SNQ relays.
During the week, the Cannonvale Cannons competed in their individual events.
On Sunday, Tyler Bennett, aged 13 years, competed in his 100m Freestyle. Tyler swam a terrific time of 1.02.68, which was a 1.19sec PB. Well done Tyler!
The Cannonvale Cannons Swimming Club would like to commend all the swimmers at the Queensland Championships on their relay results.
A big thank you to all the parents and coaches for all their efforts.
