THE INAUGURAL Proserpine Rock Wallaby Festival is set to be a vibrant celebration of art, culture and community spirit.
With a packed schedule of engaging events, there is something for everyone to enjoy at the festival, which runs from Thursday, May 8, to Sunday, May 11, 2025.
From art exhibitions to interactive workshops and family-friendly activities, the festival promises to be an unmissable experience and a celebration of local art.
Visitors can admire the artistic talent of the Whitsundays at the Art Exhibition, which will be held in the Proserpine Entertainment Centre auditorium.
This showcase presents stunning works from local and regional artists, offering a fantastic opportunity to appreciate and support the arts.
Throughout the festival, families can embark on an exciting adventure with the Wallaby Treasure Hunt.
Beautifully hand-painted rock wallaby statues will be hidden around Proserpine, encouraging explorers of all ages to get involved in this creative and engaging challenge.
On Saturday, May 10, festivalgoers can immerse themselves in creativity at Art in the Park – a creative outdoor experience taking place from 9am to 2pm.
“With engaging art workshops, a live plein-air [outdoors in natural light] painting competition, and the chance to watch artists at work, this event is an inspiring way to experience the beauty of outdoor art,” Exhibition Co-ordinator Glenda Brown said.
On Sunday, May 11, from 8am to 12pm, the Handmade Art Markets will provide an opportunity to browse stunning handcrafted pieces by local artisans.
“In addition to discovering unique treasures, families can enjoy a variety of children’s activities, making it a fantastic outing for all ages,” Ms Brown said.
Also on Sunday, May 11, the Proserpine Entertainment Centre will host a special Mother’s Day Morning Tea, from 9.30am to 11.30am.
The ticketed event offers a delicious spread alongside an exciting cent-sale raffle featuring fantastic prizes.
Attendees can also explore the Art Exhibition and Handmade Art Markets, showcasing unique local creations.
Festival organisers are calling for enthusiastic volunteers to help bring this spectacular event to life.
