Obituary
William James Clarendon passed, aged 80 years. He was an old resident of the district and his funeral took place at St. James’ Uniting Church.

Outrigger Races
Hamilton Island paddled its way to victory in the Inter Island men’s open marathon six metres in front of a courageous team from South Molle. Reigning champions Hayman were a disappointing third but made up for this with wins in the men’s and women’s sprints.

Brahman’s Batter Brothers
Wet conditions could not slow Proserpine Brahmans who recorded a 32-0 win against Burdekin Brothers, spurred on by a hat-trick of tries by winger Scott Napier. Proserpine recorded a clean sweep with wins for Reserve Grade 28-0 and Under Eighteens 20-6.
Tennis Scores
This week’s matches did not change the team order in either grade. Ted’s Tactics still lead the ‘A’ Grade from Racketeers, while Aces lead the Reserve Grade.
Swimmers at Rockhampton City Carnival
Four local swimmers – Cheryl Pound, Donna Mengel, Karen Stevens and Anne Spencer – bagged a total of eleven medals at this prestigious event.
