WHITSUNDAY Game Fish Club members are gearing up for an exciting weekend of competitive fishing.
The first competition of the club’s new year is the ‘Whitsunday Powersports and Marine Mackerel and Reef Fish Rally’, being held on July 19 and 20, 2025.
It all starts with the rally briefing and registration of anglers, on Thursday, July 17, at the Marine Club, in Altmann Avenue, Cannonvale, at 6pm.
This will be followed by a demonstration on rigging various baits and lures for tempting Spanish Mackerel, tackle set-up and some finer points on reef fishing.
“Everyone is welcome to attend on Thursday the17th and pick up a few handy tips, ask questions and see what the club is all about,” club spokesperson Ashley Mooresaid.
“Being the start of the new club year, it is a good opportunity to renew your membership or maybe if you’re interested in light tackle game fishing in a fun, family club atmosphere, join up and join in.”
Membership forms and information will be available on the night and 12-month membership fees remain at $70 per adult and $35 per junior under 16 y.o.
