2023 is the 16th year of the Paul Bowman Challenge Carnival, which is a two-day U9’s Rugby League competition.
It will be held on Saturday, September 16, and Sunday, September 17, 2023, at the Proserpine Junior Rugby League fields.
There are 1,180 registered players, bringing around 5,000 people to the region for the weekend.
Eighty teams from around Queensland are participating.
These include Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, Yeppoon, Peak Downs, Moranbah, Emerald, Dysart, Blackwater, Clermont, Longreach, Ivanhoe, Rockhampton, Sarina, Mackay, Bowen, Innisfail, Burdekin, Townsville, Cairns, Mareeba and Mossman.
This year, the Proserpine Brahmans have two teams participating – a BLUE team and a GREEN team, with 15 boys and girls in each team.
The teams will play four games each, on Saturday and Sunday.
PWJRL President Justin Follett said, “The aim of the weekend is to see more than a thousand children compete for their club, display good sportsmanship and enjoy themselves.
“It’s going to be a great weekend showcasing rugby league in our region, so come out to the Proserpine footy grounds and support your local team playing the greatest game of all.”
