A night to remember

Must read

IT WAS a night to remember, on Friday, August 26, as Whitsunday Christian College (WCC) celebrated its 25th year anniversary with ‘A Night Under the Stars’.

College families, past and present, along with the Whitsundays community, attended the sparkling event featuring music, dance, games, attractions, art and a fireworks finale.

There were music and dance performances from students and a surprise ‘Flash Mob’, in the College Dome, where staff and students joined in and danced to Footloose!

“It was an amazing evening of celebration,” WCC principal Kylie Langshore said.

‘Eat Street’ was lit up with festoon lights and offered a wonderful variety of sweet and savory options.

“We had a great range on offer from Whitsunday Paradise Pizza, Airlie Waffle, RiLo, Mr Whip-Sunday, Simply Yum, Chasing Te-Ra Specialty Coffee, Airlie Pies, Dinkum Donuts and a sausage sizzle.”

All classes at the school organised a Sideshow Amusement Stand, which were run by teachers and students, much to the delight of the attendees.

“Everyone loved the old school games such as Pie Face, Balloon Darts, Chocolate Bed, Slam Dunk, Beat the Goalie and Ring Toss,” Mrs Langshore said.

“Student artwork was also on display at our Art Exhibition, and the kids loved the Star Gazers ‘Lucky Stars’ competition, which sent them searching around the school for six Lucky Stars, to go in the draw to win a Nintendo Switch Lite.”

The farmyard nursery was a big hit, along with face painting, glitter tattoos and Mr Poppa’s Balloons.

There was also an inflatable zone with Jumping castles, a gladiator duel and mechanical bull.

A spectacular fireworks display was the perfect end to the night’s amusements.

Families then settled into a ‘Movie Under the Stars’ to watch Peter Rabbit 2, in the outdoor cinema.

“We thank our wonderful community for coming to celebrate our beautiful college. It is a privilege to do community with you all.

“We thank the Lord for his continued provision as we seek to Educate for Eternity, Equip for Life.”
