HERE in Paradise, we have almost said goodbye to winter and we are eagerly awaiting spring and soon our hard cover will be erected.
This week was full of surprises, starting on Wednesday afternoon, Jackpot bowls organised by Merve Stewart.
The big winners of the day were skipper Rick Galea with a strong return to form for his lead Alan Pershouse, who were no match for the rest of the field with an effortless victory, however, the Jackpot was not won.
At the same time, the Men’s A Grade singles final was played between John Fielding and Shane Spann, which saw Shane running away with a big victory after early pressure from John.
Congratulations to Shane on a wonderful performance, well marked by Bob Fenney.
Friday morning saw the Endeavour Foundation come for training.
All the group are really impressive with their adaptation to lawn bowls with thanks to Betty Whitehorn, Helen Ward and David Meiklejohn, who are fantastic with the group.
On Friday afternoon, the Christian College students are showing marked improvement in their bowling and their attitude to learning the game.
The standouts this week were Riley Jacobson, who’s a naturally gifted sportsman, whilst Kyla Gomes and Josh Kirkpatrick also have great talent.
Special mention must go to Harmony Carus and Juliette Scells.
Sports master Codey Vogel would be very proud of the efforts of his students.
Saturday Morning Scroungers saw first round winners Eric Barnard, Merve Stewart and Denis Donnadelli with Merve Stewart the victor, whilst Maureen Barnard won the B Division final.
