BENDIGO Community Bank Cannonvale-Proserpine is delighted to announce the appointment of Kim Porter to their board.
“We are excited to have Proserpine local and active community member Kim Porter join the Board. She is a welcome inclusion, and we look forward to her contribution in 2024 and beyond,” Community Bank Cannonvale-Proserpine chairman Mark Henry said.
Proserpine locals Kim and Mark Porter have owned and operated Hummingbird Refrigeration, Electrical & Air Conditioning, since 2015.
Kim is a passionate advocate for local business, having been involved with the Proserpine Chamber of Commerce, since 2019, which merged with Whitsundays Chamber of Commerce and Industry in 2023.
She is a current member of the chamber board.
Kim is also a member of the Church Council with the Proserpine Whitsundays Uniting Church and was involved in its recent fundraising campaign, which raised more than $270,000 towards rebuilding the church.
She is also engaged as Practice Manager with Bogie & Co Solicitors, where she has worked since 2015.
“I look forward to working with my fellow board members, leveraging our collective knowledge and skills to help guide both existing and future initiatives,” Kim said.
Over the past seven years, Bendigo Community Bank Cannonvale-Proserpine has invested just over $178,600 into local schools, social programs, sporting groups, arts and culture events, conservation initiatives, and community prizes.
“I am genuinely excited about the opportunity to be a part of, and contribute to, a group that values giving back to its local community – creating a ripple effect that sometimes we do not get to see but impacts beyond the walls of the group or initiatives we support,” Kim said.
“Our ability to invest in the local community is due to our branch team for delivering quality service, our shareholders for backing the Whitsundays community, and all the passionate local directors past and present for their hard work and dedication,” Mark added.
The Community Bank Cannonvale-Proserpine opened in June 2012 with the support of local shareholders, who saw the value of the Community Bank model and raised $800,000 locally to establish a branch in the Whitsundays.
Kim joins current board members Mark Henry (chairman), Gus Walsgott (deputy chair), Cait Flemming (secretary), Krys Halsey (treasurer) and Ross Hughes.
