Lighting up Christmas for those who need it

Must read

LOCAL residents have been making a difference in the community by contributing to the Ray White ‘Little Ray of Giving’ campaign.

People deliver a new, wrapped gift to put under the Christmas tree, at the Ray White Office, in the lead-up to Christmas.

The team at Rotary Airlie Beach then delivers the gifts to families in the region, who could use a lift at this time of year.

Ray White Real Estate, in Cannonvale, and Rotary have been partnering for more than seven years on the initiative, which sees games and toys delivered to excited children.

Sue Griffiths at Ray White said it was something the team looked forward to every year.

“It’s Ray White nationwide – every Ray White office in Australia – who have contributed something towards families in need, in their local area,” she said.

“It’s just wonderful to be able to give something back to the community.”

Ray White has been collecting the gifts since the end of November.

People bring in gifts and also donate money, for the most part through the Ray White staff and management, who all put in money.

“Some do their own gifts and others pledge an amount and we do a big shop,” Ms Griffiths said.

“The staff all do the wrapping of the gifts we buy!”

Rotary Airlie Beach president Jan Clifford said it was a community effort.

“I would like to thank Ray White again for caring for families a little less fortunate than some of us, at this special time of year, it’s very kind of all the staff,” she said.
