THE WHITSUNDAY Game Fish Club’s Billfish and Tuna Rally was contested, last Sunday, with a couple of junior members showing the oldies how it is done.
Ten teams competed in perfect conditions, all encountering good numbers of sailfish, that proved hard to catch for most.
Junior angler, Jasmin Smith, fishing on Dad’s boat ‘Lay Low’, caught the highest point scoring billfish by tagging and releasing a sailfish on 8kg line.
Younger brother Benson, not to be outdone, tagged and released a nice long tail tuna on 10kg line to win the tuna section, and also landed a lovely Mahi Mahi.
A great day was had by all.
Now it’s all system go for the Ben Doolan Light Tackle Tournament, from October 10 to 13, 2024.
