BOWEN Gumlu Growers Association welcomes the Queensland State Government’s release of the Primary Industries Prosper 2050 Blueprint, following extensive consultation across the agriculture sector.
Prosper 2050 sets a new vision for the sector and is underpinned by six strategic priorities, including market growth and value-adding, a skilled and agile workforce, innovation, shared infrastructure, ease of business, and coexistence and community support.
We look forward to seeing the priorities underpinned by actions that contribute to ensuring a productive, profitable and sustainable sector into the future.
Behind the scenes, BGGA is already focusing on many of these priorities, with major projects such as the Bowen Food Futures Precinct, to create value-add opportunities for growers, and a team of staff working hard on innovation through ag-tech adoption and a skilled workforce for the future.
We thank our region’s growers for their confidence in our organisation, as we continue to work hard to deliver outcomes for the industry.
On Saturday, August 30, 2025, the winners of the North Queensland Agriculture Awards will be announced at the NQ Growers Gala.
The awards recognise the hardworking farmers and innovators driving our industry forward, showcasing success in sustainability, productivity and community impact.
Congratulations to the finalists across each category and we look forward to celebrating your achievements on the night.
On a personal note, I’d like to wish Deb Friend every success as she begins a new chapter.
I’ve had the pleasure of working with Deb in various roles, over many years, and her passion for local news and our community has always been inspiring.
Thank you, Deb, for your dedication and for ensuring that every voice in our community has been heard.
