WE WERE very proud to receive the Bronze award at state level, in the Visitor Information Services category, at the Queensland Tourism Awards, held in Cairns.
This topped off a great year for Bowen Tourism and Business after winning two Golds and one Silver at the Whitsundays Tourism Awards.
November is traditionally a quiet month for tourism in Bowen but the numbers at the Bowen Visitor Information Centre were up more than 25 per cent up compared to November last year.
We expect to get busy in the lead-up to Christmas and we are noticing the number of international visitors is continuing to increase.
The centre will be open over the festive period but we will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
Our 2024 Bowen calendars are proving popular and are available for sale at the centre and also at several outlets around town.
We also continue to expand our range of Bowen merchandise and local produce, and have many items that would make great Christmas gifts.
We are very pleased that the Bowen Family Fishing Classic is being held again this year and should be a great weekend, on December 9 and 10.
In other news, we are putting the final touches on the new edition of the Bowen and Collinsville Visitor Guide and that should be ready for distribution early in the new year.
