BOATSMART HQ is a new innovative business franchise that is ready to service boats in the Whitsundays region.

The vessel management service provides maintenance and vessel inspection reports, as well as other services required by the boat owner to ensure the boat is safe and seaworthy.

The service provides boat owners with a unique mobile BoatSmart HQ app, which allows them to easily keep track of their history service and check on their boat’s monthly inspections.

The franchise started in NZ a few years ago and, due to the success, the company decided to expand into Australia.

Russell Ollington, with a background and qualifications in marine surveying, skippering and engineering, embarked on the mission with his wife Rachel, who grew up in Airlie Beach, to bring it to the Whitsundays.

“BoatSmart HQ is a boat management company built by boaties for boaties,” Mr Ollington said.

“We help boat owners by addressing maintenance issues proactively to reduce downtime, minimise costs, and retain their boat’s maximum value.”

The couple is looking to expand their business in the area with both permanent and sub-contract personnel. The couple’s goal and dream is to move permanently to the region, in the near future.

“Our plan is to grow and expand our business within the region and move towards having a permanent office in Airlie Beach, preferably in one of the marina precincts,” Mr Ollington said.

“Once we are established, we hope to start training new franchisees coming online in Australia, and what better place to do that than in the heart of the Whitsundays?”
