CLUB Night saw an evening of celebration as Coach Ken Crittenden recognised the achievements of our returning state swimmers.
We are so proud of our swimmers, who represented the club against the best of the best in Queensland swimming and are already looking forward to the next State event, in December.
Upgrades were then presented to Ruby Lawson, who was promoted to 50M in all strokes, while Eloise Chegwidden made the leap to 200IM.
Tyler Bennet earned his upgrade to 50M Breaststroke, and both Lucas Korosec and Jasper Korosec advanced to 100 Butterfly, with Lucas also upgrading to 100 Freestyle.
Andie Reynolds not only secured her upgrade to 200IM but was also honoured with the Coaches Award for her performance and 14-second improvement, in the 100IM the previous week, which also earned her the Chocolate Award.
The milder weather conditions contributed to a pleasant and productive night of swimming, with several swimmers achieving significant personal bests.
Miller Eaves achieved an incredible 32-second improvement in his 100 Backstroke, while Tyler Bennett shaved 12 seconds off his 100IM time.
Special recognition goes to Jasper Korosec and Ruby Lawson, who achieved personal bests in all four of their races on the night.
The Cannons family also welcomed its newest member, five-year-old Blaire Harland, who swam her first events with the club, proudly following in the footsteps of her older siblings.
Over the weekend, our committed coaching team travelled to Mackay to attend the Swimming North Queensland Coaches Conference, where they engaged in sessions focused on athletic development and technical stroke models, for junior and age group swimmers.
These sessions were delivered by keynote speakers including Matt Brown, Triple Olympic Gold Medal Swimming Coach, and Michaela Pattinson, five-time 2023 World Junior Champion Coach.
The knowledge gained promises to further elevate our swimmers’ performances over the season ahead.
