‘Christmas comes but once a year’ – and it has arrived in the Whitsundays!

Must read

CHRISTMAS is officially coming to Proserpine, this week, with the Grand Opening of the Classic Christmas Shop, bringing the spirit of Christmas to the Whitsundays.

Offering ‘bespoke decorations, beautiful glass baubles and stunning Christmas wreaths’, the new business venture is ‘bringing back the classic traditions of Christmas’.

The store is offering a complete ‘magical and immersive’ experience and will be officially opened by Mayor Ry Collins, who will cut the red ribbon, on Friday, November 1, 2024, at 10am.

Owner Ally Garraway, 27, said she has always loved Christmas.

“In 2022, my mother Caroline and I went to Lapland to enjoy Christmas in the North Pole, and it was one of the most magical holidays we have ever shared,” Ms Garraway, fom Cannonvale, said.

“When we returned to Australia, we couldn’t stop thinking about how happy we were, wandering through Christmas markets and stores, and we decided to bring the Christmas magic to the Whitsundays.

“I have lived in the Whitsundays permanently for a year now but have been travelling up to Airlie Beach, from Victoria, since I was eight years old with family, for holidays.”

Ms Garraway said she was ‘delighted’ that the Mayor would be cutting the ribbon on November 1, at 10am.

“We are excited to bring Christmas to the Whitsundays,” she said.

“The Classic Christmas Shop has been imagined as a magical and immersive place where visitors are invited to spend time savouring the festive experience and choose ornaments that are special to them.

“Each decoration aesthetic has been carefully curated to share a unique and inspiring point of view, and to ensure there is something for everyone.”

Ms Garraway said the Classic Christmas Shop showcased ‘favourite seasonal stories’ within a ‘must-visit’ destination, for a festive spirit-filled day with friends and families to enjoy together.

“We offer meticulously selected, bespoke decorations, featuring beautiful glass baubles, stunning Christmas wreaths and bows, as well as a range of décor, bringing back the classic traditions of Christmas,” she said.

“With just over eight weeks to go until Christmas Day, we look forward to welcoming everyone to the shop.”

The Classic Christmas Shop is at 18 Main Street, Proserpine (next door to MC Classics motorbike store, opposite the courthouse).

“My father Michael owns the motorbike store MC Classics, so we decided to continue the classic name and that’s why we called it The Classic Christmas Shop,” Ms Garraway added.

The shop will be open from 10am until 5 pm, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, as part of the Grand Opening, and then revert to regular opening hours (Monday to Thursday, 10am to 4pm).
