‘CLIMBING Mountains, Reaching Goals’ is the name of a new book by a Whitsundays resident, who knows all about ‘climbing mountains’ in an emotional and mental sense.
When Bernd Braeuer’s son Jay suffered a life-altering Acquired Brain Injury (ABI), Ben’s world was turned upside down.
Faced with an uncertain future, Bernd – or Ben as he is known – committed himself to guiding Jay’s recovery.
It would be an eleven-year journey that would transform not only his son’s life but also his own.
Along the way, Ben became a mentor, motivator and advocate, working with ABI survivors and at-risk youth, inspiring them to push beyond their limitations.
Through powerful real-life experiences, ‘Climbing Mountains, Reaching Goals’ offers a practical and deeply personal guide to healing, self-discovery, and personal achievement.
Drawing from his experience in corporate leadership – while also engaging actively in different remedial practices such as Tai Chi and Native American healing practices – Ben shares strategies for overcoming life’s toughest challenges, one step at a time.
The former head of corporate strategy and executive assistant to the managing director of global giant Siemens, Ben has been at the forefront of International business success and, more recently, innovation within the non-profit community.
Ben is a ‘Change Maker’ – going from having turned around his former employer Ericsson’s relationship in the Papua New Guinea telecommunications market, to running major national and international projects.
He has also developed strategies adopted internationally by global technology giant Siemens and acted as an independent consultant to government and business.
All this, before finally turning his hand to creating life-changing community programs for disadvantaged children and young people, in Queensland.
Ben has, to date, had a remarkable career spanning five decades and now wants to share the knowledge and experiences gained with the community, via his books.
