CREATIVE Connections Whitsunday (CCW) is collaborating with the Great Barrier Reef Festival (GBRF) to stage a community art exhibition.
The exhibition will take place on Thursday, August 3, and run until Sunday, August 6, at Beach Plaza, Airlie Esplanade, Airlie Beach, next door to La Tabella Restaurant.
The Great Barrier Reef Festival is celebrating the annual migration of the humpback whale.
With many whales being born in the quiet bays of the Whitsundays, CCW wants to honour their passage by hosting an art exhibition where people can create something that represents their interpretation of ‘The Grandeur of Humpback Whales’.
Art pieces can include the great barrier reef, any part of the Whitsundays, and the environment of the whales above or below sea level.
Amateur artists and abstract art are both welcome.
It’s a People’s Choice Award Art Exhibition, so entrants are encouraged to bring their friends and family to visit the exhibition, choose their favourite artwork and vote.
CCW’s mission is to foster a vibrant arts scene reflecting the unique character and diversity of the Whitsunday region.
This art exhibition is proudly sponsored by PRD Realty Whitsunday, Smart Arts, and Coral Sea Marina.
Entry fee for members is $5 per artwork $10 per artwork for non-members.
Artworks must be delivered to Beach Plaza, on Wednesday, August 2, between 2pm and 6pm.
Entry forms available at www.CreativeConnectionsWhitsunday.com – due by Wednesday, July 26.
