WHITSUNDAY Dirt Riders hosted the last dirt track race day for the year, on the weekend, at their club in Lascelles Drive, Proserpine.
The Whitsunday Cup featured an invitational, 10-lap ‘Dash for Cash’ proudly sponsored by Moloko Homes – Aspire Whitsundays, with some of the state’s best PRO450 riders.
Racing started at 3pm, on Saturday (October 15) with 80 riders from around North Queensland present, along with families and many more spectators.
“The Moloko Homes 10-lap ‘Dash for Cash’ feature race winner was Kayden Downing,” the club’s Therese Moran said.
“Second place was Billy Van Eerde and third place (first time racing senior class) was Cooper Anderson. All these guys are Townsville based.
“We had full gates in our Divi 1 Demo non-competitive class. These are our up-and-coming juniors aged four – U9 who are just starting out in the sport.
“It was great to see so many starting out. We are looking forward to holding both motocross and dirt track club days next year.”
It has been a busy year for Whitsunday Dirt Riders, who hosted the Queensland Dirt Track Titles, in April, and Round Four of the Tropical North Queensland Motocross Series, in July.
“We would like to acknowledge Whitsunday Regional Council for their assistance with a special projects grant, which allowed us to improve track drainage and track access for emergency services,” Ms Moran said.
