I HOPE you managed to get some downtime over the Easter break with family and friends.
Whatever you think of Easter – and whatever it means or doesn’t mean to you in a religious sense – it is a time to relax and enjoy good food and good company!
I also hope the cafes and restaurants in our towns did well out of the visitation over the holiday period – still plenty more to go with the school holidays not wrapping up for some weeks. See our story page 1.
Eggs-citing
Talking of food, kids obviously love Easter eggs and all things chocolate at Easter (and quite a few parents too!).
The Mega Easter Egg Hunt, at Northerlies, in Woodwark, is becoming ‘the place to be’ on Easter Sunday.
See our Easter photos on page 15.
Weather washout!
I can’t write this column without mentioning the weather – it was WET over the long weekend!
Hopefully, the many families who have come to the Whitsundays for their Easter school break have found things to do in our wonderful region.
At least it’s warmer than it would be at home, if you have come from NSW or Victoria, despite the rain.
Whatever the weather, we have an amazing region with world-class attractions and the most beautiful scenery you could see anywhere on the planet.
School holiday activities
Kids driving you mad already? Easter eggs eaten, festive presents forgotten about?
Well never fear, there’s a host of activities going on to interest kids, especially at the Whitsunday Regional Council libraries in Bowen, Cannonvale, Collinsville and Proserpine.
See the WRC Facebook page for details of activities at each library. But don’t delay, as spots do book up quickly.
Plus, all movie tickets at the Proserpine Entertainment Centre, during April, are just $10 – see movie schedule on page 21 of this newspaper.
The PCYCs in both Bowen and Jubilee Pocket also hold school activities. See our story on page 10 about a self-defense and boxing class being held for teenagers.
As always, thanks for reading this newspaper.
Thanks.
Deborah.
