AS OUR weather slowly starts to dry out, more events are coming on board.
That’s not to say some events are not still being impacted by the wet weather – the Proserpine State School fete had to be postponed, on Friday, due to the wet weather.
But, overall, the weather is starting to dry out and Whitsunday residents – and visitors – can look forward to a raft of events, covering all manner of interests.
See our ‘What’s On in June’ summary, on page 4.
Meanwhile
There were some great events held on the weekend just gone.
The Whitsunday Cruisin’ Car Club’s car and bike show was held on Saturday, in Airlie Beach, and it was a huge success. See photos page 19.
As well, Whitsunday Dirt Riders hosted Round Two of JR’S Tropical North QLD MX Series, at Dray’s Park, Gunyarra, on the weekend. See story and photos page 28.
Au revoir…
As regular readers of the Whitsunday News newspaper will know, this is the last issue of the paper to be published in print.
The decision has been made due to increasing printing costs, which have made it unsustainable for us, as a business, to continue printing.
The Whitsunday News will continue online – we already have a website and Facebook page – and we are exploring all options with regards to a new-look digital newspaper (available via subscription).
We will be touching base with our current digital subscribers soon, to get their thoughts and ideas.
If you are interested in subscribing, please email me direct at editor@whitsundaynews.net.au and we’ll keep you updated.
It is certainly not goodbye…far from it. As the French say…Au revoir (see you again).
Thank you
And lastly, a very sincere thank you to all our readers for buying this newspaper over the past four years.
We published the first issue on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 – a date that will forever be marked in my consciousness, for so many reasons (all of them good!).
Thank you.
Deborah.
