BOWEN Gumlu Growers Association (BGGA) has wrapped up a year focusing on ag technology with the much anticipated ‘Grown in NQ’ Innovation Showcase.

The two-day event provided a dynamic platform to highlight the latest advancements in ag tech, with everything from robotic spray rigs to soil biome stimulants on display.

The event served to inspire and connect the region’s growers, innovators and industry leaders.

On October 31, growers, agribusiness professionals, and industry representatives gathered at the Bowen DAF Research Facility for the ‘Grown in NQ’ Food and Farm Tour.

The day began with an industry breakfast celebrating the rich flavours of North Queensland.

Attendees were then treated to engaging presentations from ag tech leaders and innovators, followed by a comprehensive farm tour that showcased ag tech on both vegetable and orchard cropping operations.

On November 1, the ‘Grown in NQ’ Innovation Showcase took centre stage, bringing together Australia’s most advanced agricultural technologies in one premier event.

The showcase featured live demonstrations of the latest innovations, allowing attendees to explore in person how these technologies can be integrated into everyday farming operations.

From digital automation to discussions on sustainable farming practices, the event equipped North Queensland’s growers with the knowledge and tools needed to excel in the evolving agricultural landscape.

A significant focus for BGGA is working with schools to help local students understand the wide range of skilled jobs available on farms, right here in our region.

To complement this focus, an Innovation Station was included as part of the event, designed to engage students and educators in the groundbreaking developments shaping the future of agriculture.

This year’s ‘Grown in NQ’ event was a powerful reminder of how North Queensland’s agriculture sector is embracing innovation to drive efficiency, sustainability and future growth.

BGGA was also thrilled to see our local growers enjoy the opportunity to connect, discuss and share their own experiences in adopting new technologies.

‘Grown In NQ’ 2024 was supported by funding from the Australian Government Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, as part of its Support Regional Trade Events Program.
