RESIDENTS can help shape the future of the Whitsundays by commenting on council’s draft corporate plan.
But be quick, as consultation closes this Wednesday, December 18, 2024.
Whitsunday Regional Council is seeking feedback on its draft Corporate Plan 2025 – 2030.
The plan will update and replace the existing Corporate Plan 2021 – 2026.
The corporate plan is the primary strategic document that all other strategies, actions and decisions of council flow from.
It defines the overall strategic direction council has committed to implementing and advocating, as it works to harness new opportunities for the Whitsunday Region.
Residents can review the fact sheet to develop their understanding of the Corporate Plan and have their say via a survey (see link below) to share their strategic priorities for the region over the next five years.
“We invite feedback to refine focus areas within Corporate Plan themes, to ensure that community interests are reflected and subsequently flow into council activities over the lifespan of the plan,” a spokesperson said.
Corporate Plan themes include:
- Our Economy – We plan for growth with the future needs of the community, business and industry in mind
- Our Community – Our places and spaces enhance the liveability and diversity of our communities
- Our Environment – Our region is resilient and celebrates its natural assets
- Our Council – People, business and community
- Our Infrastructure – Our region has infrastructure that meets current and future needs.
The survey also asks respondents to comment on council’s Vision, Mission and Values.
Vision: A connected community working together to drive a resilient and strong, diverse economy and a liveable environment.
Mission: To ensure the Whitsunday Region thrives for everyone, now and in the future.
Values: Connection, innovation, sustainability.
