THE DRIVER of the Greyhound bus that crashed at Gumlu, killing three people, appeared in Bowen Magistrates Court, on Tuesday (September 24).
Three people died in the crash, which happened on the Bruce Highway, at Gumlu, north of Bowen, at about 11am, on Sunday, June 30.
The driver, Peter Jason Cafe, has been charged with five counts of dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death or Grievous Bodily Harm.
The 52-year-old appeared in person, at Bowen Magistrates Court, and did not enter a plea.
The bus crashed into a caravan, with the four-wheel-drive towing the caravan appearing to have avoided the wreckage, according to Queensland Police.
A woman in her 20s, a woman in her 30s and a 56-year-old woman died in the crash.
The bus, which was travelling to Townsville, had 33 people on board and many more passengers were injured, some seriously.
Peter Jason Cafe is due to appear in Bowen Magistrates Court again, on November 26, 2024.
