WHITSUNDAY Mowers has a new manager on board at its Chapman Street premises, in Proserpine.
Steve Deller is now the man to talk to for all your mower, power tools, pumps and gardening equipment needs at the shop.
Mr Deller, 52, was previously with Porters Mitre 10, in Cannonvale, for 10 years.
“I did tools and everything there – everything that had to be done, I did.
“I was the Stihl guy and also on Makita power tools.
“I started doing the deliveries, for four years, and then moved into sales as I was getting old and I had crook shoulders!
“I am very happy to be here now, at Whitsunday Mowers.
“I am selling Stihl and a few other brands including Toro, Cox and Shindaiwa, among others.
“I do everything. I vacuumed the floor earlier today. I am the manager come shop assistant!”
The shop has two mechanics and another salesperson.
“We have the only Stihl mechanic in the region – he’s registered to work on Stihl products and is very knowledgeable,” Mr Deller said.
Mr Deller said things had changed a ‘little bit’ since he had arrived.
“My customers from Porters come here now,” he said.
“For example, chippies who have a block of land and need a ride on mower.”
“In six months or so I might change some things but I don’t want to change too much as he has got a pretty good business here!”
Mr Deller moved to the Whitsundays, from NSW, in 1995.
“I’m never moving – everywhere else is too cold. We have a great little spot here.”
