THE ZONTA Club of Whitsundays held its annual Derby Day lunch recently, which raises funds for good causes while everyone has a brilliant time!
It was the fifth year of holding the Zonta Derby Day, at La Tabella, Airlie Beach, on Saturday, November 2, 2024.
The Zonta Day is regarded by many as an annual event not to be missed.
It’s a chance to dress up in black and white finery, wear a fabulous hat, and enjoy a fun filled afternoon.
And to top it off, it’s a fundraiser for Zonta, with monies raised to be used throughout the year for Zonta projects, making a better world for women and girls.
“It was a wonderful day with many guests taking home lots of winnings and raffles prizes,” Zonta president Marlene Reiffel said.
“The noisy, raucous day was sensational. It was busy, exciting and rewarding.
“To raise funds with so much fun, and to know that every penny raised will go to improving the lives of women and children, is astounding.
“The owners of La Tabella gave us another fantastic day and their staff worked tirelessly to make sure we had a great time.
“A special thankyou to the chef, who provided a beautiful lunch for over 70 guests.”
Brad Sobott, from Taylor’s Real Estate, conducted a great auction with a huge result.
“The generosity of our sponsors was incredible – we could not manage without them,” Ms Reiffel said.
“They show a wonderful community spirit, which is valued by Zonta and the recipients of our projects.”
Zonta Whitsundays’ next highly regarded fundraiser is International Women’s Day, to be held at Coral Sea Marina Resort, on Sunday, March 9, 2025.
“Every year it is different and, this year, the theme is sparkles, glitter and bling. Make sure you book your tickets early,” Ms Reiffel said.
