Record Weight Loss for Old Proserpinian
Ernie Carne, now retired to Brisbane, set a record by shedding eight stone in weight in the past year, going from 135kg, or over 21 stone, down to 82kg, or 13 stone. Helped by Weightwatchers, Ernie can now lead an active lifestyle and care for his extensive veggie garden.

Obituary
Joseph Atkinson, aged 90, died at home on Sunday. He was able to meet /greet many family members and friends, who had gathered to celebrate his birthday before passing away quietly before his party began.
Changes at Cannonvale
The Beach Progress Association closed after caring for the Cannon Valley Beach for many years. The Beach had been tended in that time by a cleaner. It had been the only seaside retreat for locals with only a goat track over the hills to Shingley and ‘Horseshoe Bay’ and was once named Deauville or ‘town of water’ after the freshwater spring near where the old stone jetty was built.
Promotion for John Paterson
The son of the Paterson family was promoted to Naval Lieut. Commander.
Pony Club Success
Six members attended the P.R.C. Gymkhana, at Pioneer, among 102 riders from nine clubs. Proserpine finished in 4th place thanks to runner-up places recorded by Becky Valmadre and Toni Hinschen.
Victory For ‘Chapter Seven’
Herb Secombe’s boat ‘Chapter Seven’ recorded 2nd in line honours and best on corrected time, in the Round the Whitsundays WSC Race, on Saturday, with a record time of just over 10 and a half hours.
WTA Future

Tennis Success for Alison: In the past two weeks Alison Lucas won the Shell Under 16 Age titles, in Mackay, and the Coca Cola Titles, in Cairns, qualifying her for a trip to Brisbane for the zone master’s final.
Proserpine Rugby League
The Proserpine Rugby League team lost to Collinsville 34-4 to drown their hopes of a minor premiership.
Craig Harding has just returned from a successful tour with the N.Q. Under 14 Rugby League team, which won six times from nine matches.
