Celebrating small business

The Whitsundays are home to many small businesses, who not only provide a service but also contribute financially to community projects.

Shirt Front Solutions is a family-owned business run by Kevin Fancke and Kylie Allen, along with their two boys Lucas and Aiden. Mr Fancke is known for his quirky sense of humour and passion for Essendon Football Club.

The team has provided school and work uniforms to the region since July 1, 2009. With over 30 years’ experience in the field, they offer superior quality and exceptional customer service.

“We had been running the business Curious Concepts since 1999, but it was time for that to run its course and time for us to open our own family run business,” Mr Fancke said.

“The kids have been involved on and off over the years, they used to help with the boomerang bags.”

Shirt Front Solutions is a major sponsor of local Australian Rules Football team, the Sea Eagles. They sponsored the first Airlie Beach Festival of Music, in 2012, and continue to show their support in the festival’s 10th year.

“We generally rely on a lot of local businesses – we always look after them, and they keep coming back,” Mr Fancke said.

From screen printing and sublimation to the more complex detailed embroidery, the team can customise most items. They love a challenge and very little deters them, sometimes the weirder or more complex the request, the better.

The last 13 years has seen them grow from strength to strength; as technology has evolved, so has the business.

“We are getting into the digital stuff now, obviously the sublimation is a big part of our business, but we will be getting into ‘direct to garment’ printing in the near future.” Mr Fancke said.
