THE HAYMAN Island ‘Shitbox Rally’ team has hit the road in an epic journey to raise funds for the Cancer Council.
The team left from Mackay on their 3,500km journey to Darwin, which will take them through the outback via sealed and unsealed roads.
The journey will take a week (October 15 to 21) and passes through iconic towns such as Charters Towers, Chillagoe, Normanton, Hells Gate Roadhouse, Borroloola and Mataranka.
“We will be driving our Toyota Cressida 1991 Grande aka ‘Christopher’, which has been given a Whitsundays themed paintjob,” general manager InterContinental Hayman Island Resort Arpad Romandy said.
“We are raising money for Cancer Council, the goal for the Rally is $2m and we are currently the second highest team with $32,000 of our $50,000 goal in the tin.
“We would love to reach our target and need your support. Please follow us on Instagram for updates on the rally, especially the dress-up days – www.instagram.com/christopherthecressida22/

“The rally is self-funded and Ben and I have put a fair amount of our own money into the car, gear, and accommodation.”
All funds are tax deductible and go towards a very worthy cause.
