BOWEN has been well represented at caravan and camping shows in recent weeks.
Three members of the Bowen Tourism and Business team went to the Townsville Expo, where they showcased the entire region to the thousands of visitors who attended.
Last weekend was the Mackay Expo and the team from Drive Queensland were there to hand out our Bowen and Collinsville Visitor Guides.
These shows are invaluable in spreading the word about Bowen and the greater Whitsundays region.
As we rely so heavily on the drive market, we know that attending these shows adds to the visitor numbers to our town.
Meanwhile, we have been very busy at the Bowen Visitor Information Centre, next to the Big Mango, as the weather becomes a bit cooler and we welcome so many visitors from the southern states, who are escaping their winter.
We have been averaging more than 120 visitors per day, in May, and expect the final numbers for the month to exceed last year’s figures.
A lot of Victorians choose Bowen as their home for three months over winter and we love welcoming them.
In other news, we were very proud that Bowen and Collinsville, as well as Airlie Beach, were named as finalists in the Top Tourism Town Awards.
We thank everyone who voted for each of our towns within the region.
The winners will be announced on June 7 at the Brisbane Caravan and Camping Show.
