THIS July, The Light and Shady Tour hits Airlie Beach with a standup comedy show for the whole family.
Comedians Greg Sullivan and Anna Brennan join forces for a run of special shows this year, and are headed to the Reef Gateway Hotel, Cannonvale, on Monday, July 31, at 5.30pm.
Since the age of seventeen, Greg Sullivan has been honing his skills as a comedic writer and performer.
Getting his first paid stand-up gig, on his nineteenth birthday, paved the way to a job writing for Triple M Radio when he was 21.
By this time, he had made several national television appearances on Foxtel and all the free to air networks, as well as being invited to perform in a showcase of Australian talent at The Hollywood Improv.
When he was 28, he moved up from writing to hosting the top rating Triple M breakfast show, The Cage, and also made several appearances on The Project.
After 14 years of 2.30am starts, he finished up in breakfast radio and has since headlined shows in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Hong Kong.
He now splits his time between touring and collaborating on television and movie projects.
Anna Brennan is a Gympie comedian, who has just returned from a 10-show run of her solo show ‘Tinderella’ at Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
She started doing stand-up in Melbourne, in 2014, and now runs a stack of open mic comedy shows on the Sunshine Coast, as well as MC-ing gigs including Horizon and Anywhere Festival.
Her first solo show was performed at Bris Funny Fest, in 2018, where festival organiser Adam O’Sullivan described it as ‘an insightful, hilarious and yes, sometimes a bit dirty, look into the world of modern female dating’.
Kate Mulqueen, from ARTS hub, said she was a wonder to behold.
“She’s supremely likable, with a flair for the physically comic flourish. Her vulnerability is of the sort that is so relatable you can’t help but laugh with her, and at life in general. When she’s in full flight, Brennan is a wonder to behold. You’ll probably want to grab her after the show to have beers with her,” she said.
