CRAFTY people will be flocking to Whitsunday Plaza, in Cannonvale, once the new Spotlight opens, on June 4, 2025.
The family-owned and operated Australian business has stores throughout Australia, New Zealand and Asia, employing more than 6,700 people.
Up until now, fans of the store have had to travel to Mackay to get their fix of fabrics, craft and homewares, but not anymore.
The new store will sell Manchester, home décor items, party products, fabrics and sewing needs, furnishings, and craft supplies.
Spotlight’s founders learned about fabrics by working at their family fabric stall at Melbourne’s Queen Victoria Market, in the early 1970s, opening their first Spotlight store in Malvern, Victoria, in September 1973.
Spotlight now has more than 100 stores across Australia, New Zealand and Asia, with hundreds of brands and thousands of products on offer.
“When you head into a Spotlight store, you can find almost everything you need to kit out your home,” a spokesperson said.
“Kitchen and dining spaces, lounge and bedrooms, bathrooms and laundries are all covered by your local Spotlight store.
“Our ranges of haberdashery and craft have expanded, and our party section can provide you with all the decorations and costumes you need for your next celebration.”
There will be a Grand Opening event running from Wednesday, June 4, to Sunday, June 8, 2025, with activations, giveaways, decorations, freebies, live music and more!
Giveaways include a $1,000 shopping spree and the first 100 customers through the door will receive a free Tontine ‘Great Value’ standard pillow two-pack.
The new store will trade from 8am to 9pm on the opening day.
