WITH new owners and a new lease on life, Hog’s Breath Cafe is bringing the original atmosphere and hospitality back to the Main Street of Airlie Beach.
Three months since taking over, the original Hogs Breath Café – Airlie Beach was the first ever café in the chain to open, in 1989 – is certainly alive and kicking!
“We’re thrilled to share that, in our first three months, we’ve welcomed back so many locals and had the pleasure of hosting some incredible visitors,” co-owner Jean-Paul ‘JP’ Afflick said.
“It’s been an amazing journey showing everyone what the original Hogs is all about – the place where the Hogs Breath story began.
“Whether you’re a long-time fan or a first-time visitor, we can’t wait to give you the true Hogs experience that started it all.”
All the family classics and party favourites are still on the menu, including juicy grilled prime rib steaks, classic burgers and the famous Boss Hog Ribs.
While JP is marketing and operations, co-owner Adam Zakharoff is front-of-house and will be the smiling face you see on arrival.
Both men are Hog’s Breath Café veterans and have led the revitalisation efforts over the past three months, breathing fresh life into the iconic restaurant and the brand’s flagship cafe.
“We have rewound the clock and brought the ‘good times’ back,” Adam said.
“Much has changed over the past three decades, but one thing remains constant: People want great steak, excellent service and a place to relax and enjoy a fantastic atmosphere.”
The revitalisation has included upgrading and decorating the front bar area with memorabilia, keeping the doors open all day, and bringing back happy hour from 4pm to 6pm, with drink cards and members’ draws.
Large TV screens have also been brought back, so people can watch the sport with an icy cold beer, and there is live music every Saturday afternoon from 12pm and into the evening with local artists such as Nick Di Gregorio and Ash Smith.
And to cap it all off, Lobsterfest is back! Indulge in the ultimate ‘surf and turf’ experience with a mouthwatering rock lobster, perfectly paired with Hog’s famous Prime Rib steak.
Lobsterfest is only available from October 16 to December 16, so don’t miss the boat with this perfect pairing of flavours.
Adam and JP have also reinstated the OG Hogs club, with OG standing for ‘original gangster’, an expression of respect or admiration for someone being original or first at something.
“Last week at the OG Hogs in Airlie Beach was nothing short of amazing!” Adam said.
“A huge thanks to everyone who came in and made it so special. We loved seeing all the familiar faces and meeting new ones too.
“We can’t wait to welcome you back soon for more good times, great food, and even better company.”
So grab your friends, kick back and enjoy a classic Airlie Beach experience with good vibes, delicious food, refreshing cocktails and plenty of smiles.
