Must read

JOHN Denver fans are in for a treat, with a tribute show to the country singing legend coming to the Proserpine Entertainment Centre.

John Denver was one of the greatest country singer-songwriters of all time.

The American artist was a singer, actor, activist and humanitarian, who found great success as a solo performer.

Starting with folk groups, in the late 1960s, he became one of the most popular acoustic artists of the 1970s, selling millions of records around the world.

John Denver released around 300 songs, writing the majority of them himself.

Famous songs include ‘Take Me Home, Country Roads’, ‘Annie’s Song’, ‘Rocky Mountain High’, ‘Thank God I’m a Country Boy’, ‘Leaving on A Jet Plane’ and ‘Sunshine on My Shoulder’.

He also appeared in several films and TV shows, during the 1970s and 1980s, including 1977’s Oh, God! alongside George Burns.

‘The Poems, Prayers & Promises of John Denver’ will take the stage on July 31, 2024, for a 90-minute show incorporating all the well known tunes.

Multi award winning performer Darren Coggan returns to his country roots with ‘The Poems, Prayers & Promises of John Denver’, delivering the vocal authenticity of one of the most passionate performers of all time.

In a personal reflection, Darren respectfully honours the indelible voice behind songs that the whole world sang along with.

Re-live the voice of a generation, in a celebration of one of the most inspiring and prolific singer songwriters of our time, remarkably re-created live, by Darren Coggan.

“Coggan has a fresh, powerful, expressive voice, and he just oozed style.” THE AUSTRALIAN.

“Coggan’s musical storytelling is outstanding, as is his singing and playing.” SUNDAY HERALD SUN.

Tickets are $17.50 – $20 for the lunchtime show (1pm to 2.30pm) and PEC member pricing is available.
