The Cody Effect

Must read

THE LEGACY of a ‘beautiful, kind and funny’ boy lives on, with funds now being raised for the specialist care home that looked after him, during his illness.

Friends and family of Cody Gibbs, who passed away earlier this year following a courageous battle with cancer, are raising money for Hummingbird House, in Brisbane.

Hummingbird House is where the brave 15-year-old was cared for, during his last weeks and days.

Friends and family have joined with Coles Supermarkets – who raise money for Hummingbird House every year, right around Queensland – to raise as much as they can for the vital service for families with sick children.

Stop by and say g’day to the team outside Coles, Cannonvale, every Saturday and Sunday (9.30am to 2pm) until the end of September, to help them reach a fantastic amount of money.

There’s a sausage sizzle, raffle, lucky dips and even cupcakes on offer! All proceeds will go to Hummingbird House to look after other families with ill children.

“We have some great prizes, from a Reef Sleep voucher for two people, thanks to Cruise Whitsundays, and a flying introduction for one, courtesy of Helibiz, and heaps of vouchers for meals and accommodation,” organiser Maz McDougall said.

“Thank you to everyone who has donated and also to Coles Supermarket – it was a natural fit to partner with Coles, as they fundraise every year for Hummingbird House.

“The level of care at Hummingbird House is unbelievable.”

Mrs McDougall will be taking the fundraising extravaganza to the Airlie Beach markets as well, this Saturday, September 17.
